432MW project will support green fuels and regional jobs

EverWind has received Environmental Assessment approval from the Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Climate Change for the 432MW Setapuktuk Wind Project.
EverWind said the project is the first wind development in its Phase 2 power buildout and will deliver 350–400 construction jobs and 20–35 long-term operations and maintenance jobs.
EverWind said the project will provide more than $3 million in indexed annual municipal tax revenue to the Municipality of the District of Guysborough and $432,000 each year through a Community Benefits Fund.
EverWind said Setapuktuk will generate clean electricity to power industrial-scale clean fuel production and support Nova Scotia’s economic and energy strategy, including through Wind West for large-scale renewable development.
EverWind said the project will supply power to the Point Tupper Green Fuels Project facility via the approved Strait Crossing Transmission Line.
EverWind said the project is being co-developed with Membertou to advance Mi’kmaq economic reconciliation and Indigenous leadership in clean energy.
“This approval reflects years of environmental studies and community engagement, as well as close collaboration with the Province, MODG, and our Mi’kmaq partners. Setapuktuk is a major opportunity for rural Nova Scotia, and we are proud to be moving it forward,” said Trent Vichie, EverWind CEO and Founder.
“This project represents real economic reconciliation in action. Through our partnership with EverWind, we are helping create long-term opportunities for our people while leading in clean energy development,” said Chief Terry Paul, Membertou First Nation.
“The Setapuktuk Wind Project represents a major opportunity for the Municipality of the District of Guysborough. It will deliver long-term employment, municipal tax revenue, and meaningful community investment that support economic growth and the strength of our communities. MODG is proud to support this project and the positive, lasting impact it will have for our residents,” said Warden Paul Long, Municipality of the District of Guysborough.
EverWind said the 54-turbine project is located near Pirate Harbour, Middle Melford, Sand Point, Hadleyville, and Manchester in the Municipality of the District of Guysborough.
