Award covers wind and solar projects
Acciona Energia has secured a 20-year power supply contract for the full output of two renewable projects totalling 281MW in the Philippines.
The award, made through Round 4 of the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction Program, covers the 101MW Kalayaan 2 wind farm in Laguna, which is under construction, and the 180MWp Daanbantayan solar plant in Cebu, where construction will begin before the end of 2025.
The company said the contract provides long-term certainty for the energy these projects will produce.
Acciona Energia added that it has a pipeline of more than 2GW under development in the Philippines.
The company said it recently reorganised its partnerships in Southeast Asia to strengthen its position in key markets including the Philippines and Thailand.
Acciona has operated in the Philippines since 2016 through its water and infrastructure divisions.
Its foundation, acciona.org, has supported rural and underserved communities in the country since 2021 and has so far reached around 3,500 households, small businesses and community centres.
