Final units depart Aalborg for US project
CS Wind Offshore has dispatched the last transition pieces from its Port of Aalborg production site for Dominion Energy’s Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project.
The load-out campaign began in April 2024 with the first six units and has been completed efficiently and without incidents, according to the company.
CS Wind Offshore said the steel plates used would stretch 38km if laid end to end and that it pulled 211km of cable through the transition pieces.
Each transition piece is 26.6 metres tall and stacking all of them together would reach 4681.6 metres, the company added.
CS Wind Offshore said it is proud to have delivered its largest project scope to date on time and to high quality standards.
“It has been a privilege to collaborate with Dominion Energy and their designer, Ramboll, as well as our dedicated internal team,” CS Wind Offshore vice president for project, transition pieces Soren Uhrenholt Hermansen said.
“It is remarkable to reflect on what we have accomplished together since signing the contract four years ago,” Hermansen said.
“I am deeply impressed by the achievements we have made during this period, and I now wish our client every success as they approach the final stretch toward operation,” Hermansen said.
